The first order of business, tagging authors!

Admiring the Bakka-Phoenix Books display!

Meet and greet, with delicious treats and good company.
Our thanks to the Friends of the Merril and Fitzhenry & Whiteside.

A time for family and friends.

Soon there were even more family and friends!

Team Kierans wore their badges with justified pride.
A very special group of friends, there to help Genevieve celebrate.

Author sighting! Mark Ladouceur and proud family.

Belles of the ball!

You can run, but you cannot hide. (Julie with Biserka Livaja, Genevieve's photographer and friend)

Author Karina Sumner-Smith and Jana Paniccia, making sure Mark Ladouceur practices his autograph technique.
The orange journal on the table was Genevieve's Book of Congratulations, which everyone gladly signed.

Expectation builds!

Author Lorne (the Rascal) Kates shows Mark how it's done.

Authors Karina Sumner-Smith, Karin Lowachee, and Roben Goodfellow enjoying the launch.

Let the celebration begin! (The part where people have to leave the strawberries and pay attention.)

Ta Da! Here to celebrate our book! From left to right:
Lorna Toolis of the Merril Collection, Author Karin Lowachee, Editor Julie Czerneda, Author Karina Sumner-Smith,
Editor/Author Genevieve Kierans (seated), Authors Mark Ladouceur, Lorne Kates, and Roben Goodfellow.

Such a group deserves another angle.

The evening's program included sage advice from our host, the gracious Lorna,
including timely permission to ignore the "leave or be doomed" klaxon which sounded shortly thereafter.

The delightful -- and hard-working -- Sylvia Lesak,
Publicist from Fitzhenry & Whiteside, came to enjoy the evening with us.

There's nothing like a willingly captive audience!

What a joy to talk about a book like this one. Not to mention spill secrets about the authors!

Each author took a turn to describe what inspired his or her story.
Left to right: Lorne Kates, Karina (don't tell that part!) Sumner-Smith,
Karin Lowachee (standing), and Roben Goodfellow.

Then it was Roben Goodfellow's turn.

Roben discovered quite a few in the audience were familiar with a certain University of Toronto legend!

Following a reading from Genevieve's 1st story, "Mirror, Mirror," her father Steve Kierans
stood to tantalize the audience with a puzzle, praise his daughter and her accomplishments,
then thank those who came.

We shared Steve's wish for the best for this book and for the future.

All of Mark's practice did pay off. He signed magnificently by the end of the evening.
Around the table, from left: Sylvia Lesak, Roben Goodfellow, Julie Czerneda,
Lorne (don't talk to me while signing) Kates, Karina Sumner-Smith,
Sarah Jane Elliott and Chris Szego from Bakka-Phoenix Books (always a privilege!),
and, of course, Mark Ladouceur in action.
